Microsoft has developed an all new file formats for its Office 2010 and 2007 to improve security and interoperability with different programs. But the new ‘.docx’ file has no backwards compatibility; you cannot read or open it with your old Word 2003 program.
Here is a handy online tool for converting those docx file to Doc files instantly. Best of all, it is totally free and there is no email to provide.
Of course you can also use Microsoft compatibility pack which will concert the .docx format in to a compatible format and let you read documents in Office 97 – 2003.

we can convert and use DOCX to DOC from the same platform and can keep to use it in earlier version.. just save as the file to doc.
ReplyDelete@Prashanth,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, but I am confused with your answer. Need a a clarification?
the above program is useful only when we have to handle a .docx file in a system using earlier version of ms word. In office 2007 we can covert the file from .docx to .doc by just opening the file and using the save as command - under 'save as type' - and carry the same for using in system having earlier version of ms office.
