BitDefender Labs has developed a free tool for removing the Downadup worm from an infected network PC or an individual computer. Downadup (aka Conficker, kido) is a network worm that spreads by exploiting Windows RPC Server Service vulnerability. After successful exploitation it used to install rogue security software on the infected machine. Its removal is bit complicated by the fact that it blocks many known antivirus software and associated websites.
BitDefender is the first to offer a free tool from a new domain that can be disinfects all versions of Downadup worms. The new version, Win32.Worm.Downadup.Gen detected by Defender Labs is more powerful and hard to disinfection.
You can download and run the free tools provided from http://www.downadup.org/ to get rid your computer or network of this e-threat. [via]
